The road to success has us investigating the dynamics of people falling, engineering mechanical calculations for the belt and its mechanisms, the electronics design and programming of the falling detection algorithm and the creation of several functioning prototypes.
The result: a belt that a person attaches over the clothes and detects when the user is falling, deploying energy absorbing laminates over the hips, protecting them from harm. What makes this innovation unique is that it does not use and airbag or expansive foams, but an impact absorbing material that the user can re-arm easily any time after a the occurs.
