While the prices of electricity and raw materials fluctuate up and down, greatly affecting the economy, the environment suffers an enormous deterioration as energy consumption increases.
To reduce energy consumption, we are working on the development of the AI4FLEX project together with the companies Bettergy, E3INGENIA and Evergreen eléctrica.
The electricity market is quite complex. Energy demand must be predicted and calculated very accurately to avoid generating and supplying less electricity than demanded and to avoid generating energy that is not going to be used with the waste that this entails.
In red eléctrica they explain to us:
- Actual demand: reflects the instantaneous value of electricity demand.
- Demand forecast: prepared by Red Eléctrica with consumption values from other periods and taking into account different factors.
- Operational programming: programmed production.
This ensures a constant and stable energy supply.
With the AI4FLEX project, electricity consumption data is provided to an artificial intelligence model in our platform which will predict the energy demand, recommending when to disconnect electricity from places that do not need it and send it to places where it is needed. In this way, when the demand increases in a part of the electrical system, it is not necessary to produce more energy, but the demanded energy is provided thanks to the fact that the energy that was provided without being necessary in a point has been diverted to the point that does need it.
This technology offers a series of advantages both for the environment by eliminating unnecessary energy consumption and for electricity companies, which avoid having to generate more energy at certain times of peak demand, thus reducing their costs.
The vast amount of data provided by BigData and the current incredible development of artificial intelligence are an opportunity to create a more efficient and sustainable world.
